As an older hemophiliac, my joints have suffered from decades of bleeding damage. There is chronic pain that is not easily mitigated, particularly since I want to avoid pain medication. I met Dr Mike Zolotnitsky, a Physical Therapist at NJ Spine & Wellness and he mentioned that he and his associates would be able to provide some improvement. Frankly, their Old Bridge location isn’t convenient, so I ignored his advice until I had a pretty bad fall on the street by my house. Being that I knew they were knowledgeable about the issues in treating a hemophiliac, I decided it was worth the tripDr Mike and Dr Maria provide Physical Therapy for my ailing shoulder, and Dr Tony provides chiropractic treatment for my back issues. There has been significant improvements in both, and I can now sleep through the night without either by back or shoulder causing acute pain. But the biggest improvement has been in treating the underlying problem, my poor balance. Occupational Therapists Rosie and Liz have created a series of increasing more challenging coordination exercises which have made me considerably more stable. The exercises make me work hard, but they make it enjoyable. They are always alongside me during the routines to provide a guiding hand if it should look like I might fall. Even though the routines are getting more complex and difficult, my stability has increased enough so that I’m no longer worried that I’ll crash and burn. Now, the worse case is when I detect I’m losing my balance and I can self correct and prevent the fall entirely. I feel considerably safer than when I started the OT program.Over the years I’ve done a fair amount of PT at other companies, but NJ Spine & Wellness has provided the best personalized, hands on treatment, and the results are apparent.
