Common Pain Conditions

At NJ Spine and Wellness, we offer treatment for all the common pain conditions that occur in the musculoskeletal system. Below are common conditions we treat:

Back Pain

Back pain is usually accompanied by muscle ache and stabbing pains. It may affect your lower limbs and get worse when you bend, stand or walk. If your pain occurred after you fell, had a blow to your back or after an accident or injury, then you need to seek medical help immediately. Consult a doctor if the pain in your back:

  • Grows severe and does not improve with rest
  • Moves down to your legs
  • Makes you feel weak, numb or causes a tingling sensation in your legs
  • Causes weight loss

Neck Pain

Neck pain may be caused by sitting at a desk or workbench with poor posture. It may also be due to osteoarthritis. Seek medical help if the pain persists for many days or if it comes with a loss of strength or numbness in your arms, or the pain extends to your arm.

Neck pain may be caused by:

  • Muscle strains
  • Nerve compression
  • Worn joints
  • Injuries or diseases

Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain may emanate from the shoulder joint or from surrounding muscles, tendons and ligaments. Shoulder pain may also indicate problems with organs in the chest or abdomen. If the pain comes with breathing difficulties or tightness in your chest, you need to get medical help immediately.

Elbow Pain

Your elbow is an important joint, so any pain you feel there will hinder you from carrying out your day-to-day activities. Elbow pain may be caused by repetitive hand or arm movements during sports or at the workplace. It may also occur because of arthritis, a sports injury, fractures, dislocation, sprains, strains or trauma. Seek medical help if you have severe pain, swelling or a protruding bone at your elbow.

Hand & Wrist Pain

Wrist pain is usually caused by a sudden injury that results in a sprain or fracture. It may also be caused by repetitive stress, carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis. Due to a large number of factors that can cause wrist pain, an accurate diagnosis is required before treatment.

Hip Pain

Hip pain may be on the inside of your hip or groin or the outer part of your hip or buttock. Hip pain may be a result of problems with tendons, ligaments or muscles surrounding the joint. It may also be due to diseases or lower back pain. You need to get immediate medical help if your hip pain is the result of injury, a joint seems to be deformed or out of place or if you can’t move your leg or hip.

Knee Pain

Knee pain may occur due to an injury that led to a torn ligament or cartilage. Conditions like arthritis, infection and gout may also cause knee pain. Knee pain may be relieved by physical therapy or braces. In cases of chronic pain, surgical repair may be required.

Foot & Ankle Pain

Foot pain may be caused by injury, excessive use or conditions that lead to inflammation. Injured nerves in the foot or arthritis may also lead to foot pain. Injured tendons, ligaments, ankle bones and various types of arthritis can also cause ankle pain. It is important to seek immediate treatment if your pain is severe and it stops you from walking properly.
