Mayra was born and raised in Colombia. She moved to the U.S. in 2007, and has lived in Elizabeth, NJ since. She graduated in 2008 from Anthem Institute of massage therapy in New Brunswick, NJ. While at massage school, Mayra joined the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) New Jersey chapter, giving her the opportunity to work as a sports massage therapist at different track and field events for two years. In 2010, Mayra received a soccer scholarship for Union County College where she obtained her associates degree in Biology. Afterwards she transferred to Rutgers University in New Brunswick where she majored in Exercise Science with a focus in Exercise Physiology. Mayra is a proud graduate of Rutgers University Class of 2016. She has over seven years of work experience from various sides of the field. Mayra has also volunteered in the Orthopedics department at the Trinitas Hospital as a post-surgery rehabilitation aide. During her spare time she loves to read, play soccer and spend time with her mother and friends. Her ultimate goal is to enter physical therapy school and become a licensed physical therapist.
