Dr. Riggi was born in Elizabeth NJ and raised in Edison NJ. He graduated from Monmouth University in 1993, Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology. Dr. Riggi attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine, Stratford NJ. He received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. Dr. Riggi completed his internship in internal medicine from Union Hospital/St. Barnabas Healthcare System, in 1999. He then completed a family medicine residency at Union Hospital/St. Barnabas Healthcare System in 2001.
Dr. Riggi is a board certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine since 2001, by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He worked in the Woodbridge area, in a multispecialty family practice group as a primary care physician for over 15 years prior to joining the team at NJSW. As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine( DO), Dr. Riggi emphasizes a personalized holistic approach, looking at the whole body/person as a unit rather than just an illness and injury. He incorporates an empathetic approach, exploring the biological, psychological and social aspects of each patient, so he can partner with them to optimize health and overall well-being. Dr. Riggi combines the specialized training of musculoskeletal system he learned as an osteopathic medical student, with years of clinical experience to formulate a comprehensive treatment plan that focuses on the individual patient.
Dr. Riggi currently resides in Farmingdale NJ, with his wife Shannon, and 5 children. He enjoys taking a family vacation each summer to Bethany Beach, Delaware and spending time with his family. His children have been involved in various youth sports including ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, basketball and tennis, so most of his free time are spent at various sports venues and travelling to places like Hershey Park, Boston, Pittsburg, Cleveland, Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Toronto, and as far as Milan Italy and Chamonix France. The close relationship Dr. Riggi has established with various sports organizations and the increased amount of sports related injuries he has treated in his primary care practice, have given him a passion to dedicate a larger portion of his practice to sports related injuries.
